I refer to the Lakeside conservation reserve number 19214 which is located approximately 0.8 kilometres to the south of the Kaltails toxic tailings dam facility and which I understand is managed by the Department of Conservation and Land Management (CALM) for the preservation of Sandalwood -
(1) Can the Minister state the year in which the above reserve was declared and for what specific purpose?
(2) If no to (1), why not?
(3) Is it correct that the reserve is classified under the International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN) as protected area Category 6?
(4) If no to (3), what specifically is correct?
(5) If yes to (3), what is the IUCN and what is Category 6?
(6) Can the Minister explain what does ‘managed resource protected area’ mean under the IUCN?
(7) If no to (6), why not?
(8) Is it correct that in 1995 part of the original reserve referred to above was excised following the loss of vegetation attributed to seepage from the Kaltails tailings dam facility?
(9) If no to (8), what specifically is correct?
(10) If yes to (8), how many square metres in area of vegetation was affected by seepage from the Kaltails tailings dam facility?
(11) Can the Minister table a scaled plan showing the old boundary of the reserve prior to 1995 in relation to the Kaltails tailings dam?
(12) If no to (11), why not?
(13) Can the Minister table a scaled plan showing the current boundaries of the reserve referred to above in relation to the Kaltails tailings dam?
(14) If no to (13), why not?
(15) Can the Minister state in what specific year did CALM first become aware that seepage from the Kaltails tailings dam was killing and stressing vegetation in the area?
(16) If no to (15), why not?
(17) Can the Minister explain how CALM first became aware that seepage from the Kaltails tailings dam was killing and stressing vegetation in the area?
(18) If no to (17), why not?
(19) Can the Minister state precisely how many kilometres the reserve is from the townsite of the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder?
