Mrs Edwardes questions Minister Kobelke on the lack of action regarding Hanssen Pty Ltd's complaints of union intimidation, despite a prior undertaking to investigate. The Minister responds by stating the issue is complex, predates the current government, and he was unaware of the latest incident.

HANSSEN PTY LTD, CONSTRUCTION, FORESTRY, MINING AND ENERGY UNION INTIMIDATION
I refer the minister to an undertaking he gave this House on 26 June to investigate specific claims by construction company Hanssen Pty Ltd that it was subject to intimidation and bullying tactics from the Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union . (1) Why has the minister allowed this behaviour to continue for over five months, with an incident occurring as late as yesterday? (2) Given the Premier’s statement on radio this week that the Government can work only on specific complaints of union intimidation, what is the minister’s excuse for failing to take any action on specific complaints raised by Hanssen Pty Ltd? Mr KOBELKE

(1)-(2) The member’s question relates to a South Perth site, which was a matter of some concern with accusations flying both ways - against the union by the builder and against the builder by the union. Allegations were made of people being assaulted and police have been called to the site over the past year or two. It has not suddenly happened since we came to government. I was not aware there was a further incident; that report has not reached me. If the member for Kingsley had given me some notice of the question I might have been able to provide some detail on that.
