The construction of and extension to Marmion Avenue to Yanchep is not a State Government project. The State Government involvement is limited to the reservation of the route as an 'Other' Regional Road (known as a 'blue' road) in the Metropolitan Regional Scheme, and subsequent subdivision approvals to create that reservation. 1. Metropolitan Region Amendment (MRS) 1029/33 involves significant planning, infrastructure and engineering issues that must be resolved to a high standard. The Department for Planning and Infrastructure, on behalf of the Western Australian Planning Commission, is working in close liaison with the Wanneroo City Council and relevant Government authorities to progress the Amendment on a high priority basis within the statutory approval processes and timelines. The amendment is presently in the environmental assessment stage. 2.-5. As Marmion Avenue is classified as an 'Other Regional Road' in the MRS, responsibility for the construction of the road rests with the Wanneroo City Council with construction being undertaken by the landowners or by another party with the consent of the landowners. The project will be privately funded. Construction commencement and completion dates will depend on a number of factors including the acceptance by Parliament of MRS Amendment 1029/33. We have recently received advice from the Developers that they expect to complete the road in mid 2007.
