INTELLIGENT
TRANSPORT SYSTEMS
775. Hon KEN TRAVERS to the
parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Transport:
(1) Is the
government still committed to implementing intelligent transport systems on freeways
in Perth?
(2) If yes,
what measures will be introduced; where will they be located; when will they be
constructed; and how much is currently budgeted for each measure?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for some notice of this question.
(1) Yes.
(2) For a
number of years, foundation intelligent transport system devices have been
installed on freeways and major highways in Perth. These include CCTV cameras
for real-time vision, optic fibre cabling for communication of devices, vehicle
detection stations for real-time data, and variable message signs to provide
road user information. In 2013–14, over $2 million has been allocated
for foundation ITS devices.
