I refer to the interview given by the Attorney General to The West Australian and published in that paper on 6 December 2003, in particular to his reference in that article to his resigning as Leader of the Opposition due to his failure to carry out the job competently. (1) Was the reason the Attorney General was not able to carry out his job as Leader of the Opposition competently that he was also at that time employed as an articled clerk? (2) Was the Attorney General during the time that he was Leader of the Opposition also under articles of clerkship; and, if so, for what times? (3) If so, will the Attorney General refund to the State of Western Australia the extra moneys that he was paid to occupy the position of Leader of the Opposition while he was an articled clerk? (4) In view of the fact that by the Attorney General’s own admission he was not performing the job adequately, will the Attorney General make full disclosure to the people of Western Australia on all the other inconsistent activities he engaged in while so employed? (5) Does the Attorney General hold, or has he at any time while in that office held, any employment positions that may impinge on his ability to devote sufficient time to his job as minister? Hon NICK GRIFFITHS
