TAX CUTS —
FEDERAL GOVERNMENT
502. Mrs L.M. HARVEY to the Premier:
Before I ask my question, I would
also like to express our sadness on the passing of both Hon George Strickland
and Hon John Kobelke, and pass on our condolences to George's wife,
Helen, and family; to John's wife, Stephanie, and family; and to the WA
Labor and WA Liberal Parties, which will miss those giants of politics in Western
Australia.

Before dealing with the question, I acknowledge
the life of George Strickland as well. I think he was the member for Innaloo in
my first term here, and he was the Speaker during my first term. He was a thoroughly
decent man. I met him on a number of occasions after Parliament and he was
always a good, decent fellow. My condolences to his wife, Helen, and his
broader family. I also acknowledge, on behalf of the member for Baldivis, the
students from Tranby College who are in the gallery today.
I will let the federal government
fight its own battles.
