1. This report to police was received on the Police Communications Computer Dispatch System at 1335 hours 4th August 2000. The text of the complaint indicates that a male person entered the complainant's home, knocked her over and stole a handbag. The offender then left the house and was seen leaving the area. Because the threat to the complainant was no longer present the task was given a priority 3 by Police Communications. Tasking priorities are classified 1 to 7 with priority 1 being the most urgent 2. At the time of this incident the Clarkson Police Patrol was attending a significant Burglary offence. The two Joondalup Police Patrols were attending to five juvenile shoplifters and a Burglary offence. Consequently the Hillarys Police Patrol was dispatched to attend the complaint in Quinns Rock and arrived at the complainant's home at 1357 hours, 22 minutes after the report to police. It is normal practice to dispatch the first available police vehicle to an incident, regardless of their origins, and to prioritise responses to community needs. 3-6 Due to operational sensitivities I am not prepared to provide more specific information however should the Member wish I am prepared to arrange for a confidential briefing to be provided by the Joondalup District Officer.
