This is a count of school-based staff only and is point-in-time.
Important to note, teaching staff can hold both Limited Registration and Provisional Registration, and these registrations can be held for many years. As such they can appear in the figures multiple times. The sum of the breakdowns exceed the total distinct count of individual staff.
Limited registration is a mechanism giving schools the ability to employ well-qualified people to fill specific teaching roles when needed and is granted based on a rigorous assessment of a nominee’s eligibility. Examples include design and technology teachers and pre-service teachers in their final years of training.
