I refer to the Minister
for Police’s response to Dorothy Dix question without notice 133 in the Legislative
Assembly, on 22 May 2025, on the Government’s opaque firearm
laws, and of the 224 cases involving the removal of firearms on the basis of fitness
to hold, and I ask: (a) what were the most common reasons for which the licence owners were deemed unfit to hold a licence; (b) for how many of the 224 cases was the fitness to hold determined by previous convictions under the Criminal Code Act ; (c) in reference to (b), how many of these were not defined as serious offences; (d) for how many of the 224 cases was the fitness to hold determined by previous convictions under the Weapons Act ; (e) in reference to (d), how many of these were not defined as serious offences; (f) for how many of the 224 cases was the fitness to hold determined by previous convictions under the Misuse of Drugs Act ; (g) in reference to (f), how many of these were not defined as serious offences; (h) for how many of the 224 cases was the fitness to hold determined by previous convictions under the Firearms Act ; (i) in reference to (h), how many of these were not defined as serious offences; and (j) in how many cases were the events that were used to determine the licence holder being unfit: (i) occurred between 1 January 2023 and 2025 to date; (ii) occurred between 2020 and 2022 inclusive; (iii) occurred between 30 December 2019 and 10 years ago; (iv) occurred between 10 and 20 years ago; and (v) occurred more than 20 years ago?
