QuestionView source ↗
(1) Is the minister aware that the artist’s impression put on display by Multiplex Constructions Pty Ltd to show the public how the proposed Raffles Hotel tower will look from Deep Water Point is possibly misleading the public? (2) If not, will the minister ask the Western Australian Planning Commission to re-examine the drawing to see whether it agrees with the view of an engineer in my electorate that the Multiplex image suggests it will be about 24 metres, or eight levels, lower than it will be when constructed? (3) If the commission concurs with this opinion, will the minister request the Melville City Council to reject the submission out of hand because it contains false information? Ms A.J. MacTIERNAN

(1)-(3) I thank the member for some notice of this question. This matter is not before the WA Planning Commission; it is before the council. Dr J.M. Woollard interjected. Ms A.J. MacTIERNAN: A lot of people have looked at the drawings. I have looked at the drawings and the member has looked at the drawings. I am happy to give the member for Alfred Cove a briefing on the structure of planning in this State. An opposition member interjected. Ms A.J. MacTIERNAN: That is the member’s observation. I understand the matter is before the City of Melville. If the member has a complaint about the City of Melville and believes it is acting in an unethical manner, the member is free to take that up with the Minister for Local Government. The SPEAKER: That completes question time.
