(2) The Government is committed to developing the renewable energy industry in Western Australia. To assist with this Western Power has introduced an initial Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) purchase program for 90,000 certificates and is considering a further program for an additional 100,000 certificates. These programs are designed to encourage investment by the energy industry in renewable generation projects.
