I refer to land releases for Ord stage 2.
(1) Will the minister provide a list of all land allocated to
date, with details of —

and

the land will be put?
(2) Are further land allocations to be made; and, if so —
(a) what land will be allocated;

(c) what selection process will be
used to allocate land; and
(d) has any
land been set aside to be allocated to pre-determined recipients; and, if so,
what are the details?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) (a) To date,
land releases for Ord stage 2 comprise the Goomig and Knox Plain lands and Ord
West Bank. Goomig and Knox Plain lands have been allocated to Kimberley
Agricultural Investment via lease. Ord West Bank, subject to planning and approvals,
will be made available to the public for purchase.
(b) It was by request for proposals.
(c) Goomig is 7 400
hectares; Knox Plain is 5 000 hectares, less infrastructure, heritage and
environment buffers; and Ord West Bank is 1 700 hectares, less infrastructure,
heritage and environment buffers.
(d) Goomig and
Knox Plain lands abut the north east corner of Ord stage 1 lands, approximately
30 kilometres north of Kununurra. Ord West Bank is approximately 10 kilometres
west of Kununurra, along the west banks of the Ord River.
(e) Land will be
made available for irrigated agriculture consistent with the Ord final
agreement.
(2) (a) Future
lands that could be made available for irrigated agriculture include
Packsaddle, Ord East Bank and Mantinea, as identified in the Ord final
agreement. Other prospects include Cockatoo Sands and Northern Territory lands.
(b) Lot sizes
will be informed by future planning work, including agronomic, infrastructure
and environmental studies.
(c) Land release processes are yet to
be determined.
(d) No land has been set aside or
allocated to predetermined recipients.
