I refer the Minister to police numbers in Western Australia, and ask: (a) What is the actual number of police officers year to date; (b) What is the authorised/approved strength of police officers year to date; (c) What is the current actual and authorised strength of each policing district; (d) What is the number of auxiliary police officers year to date; (e) What is the number of auxiliary police officers in each policing district; (f) How many police officers have exited the Police Force in 2016, 2017, 2018 and year to date; and (g) Of the number of police officers who exited the Police Force in 2016-2019, how many of these were retirements?

The Western Australia Police Force advise:
(a) As at 12 August 2019, 6438.
(b) As at 12 August 2019, the approved strength is 6395. There are 169 recruits in eight schools in the Academy with further schools to commence before the end of the year.
(c) The information below is for police officers at each district as at 12 August 2019. They do not reflect officer transfers in or out of districts which were still subject to completion.

State Operations has an approved strength of 168, and a headcount of 167. The above figures do not include State Operations and Command Centre, Mental Health Co-Response and Youth Engagement & Youth Risk, 193 FTE, who provide policing services across the metropolitan region. Mounted and Canine also provide policing services in the Metropolitan Region, but are now part of Counter Terrorism and Emergency Response portfolio.
