In the country, Western Power’s five major country depots (Geraldton, Northam, Kalgoorlie, Bunbury and Albany) are staffed by both fault response personnel and construction and maintenance personnel who can be assigned to emergency work as necessary. All of the other 14 small country depots are primarily located to do fault response. At anytime, depending upon location and severity, crews are moved across SWIS to deal with emergency response and fault restoration activities as they are required. 2) Western Power makes special arrangements at Christmas, New Year and Easter to ensure additional crew members are rostered on and available to respond to faults across the SWIS. 3) Yes. Western Power’s Emergency Response Plan allows additional staff to be rostered on when adverse weather conditions are forecast. 4) The policy is incorporated in Western Power’s Emergency Response Planning procedures. Operationally, decisions are made to increase staff numbers as forecast conditions warrant extra staff.
