DEPARTMENT FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT - ROYAL COMMISSION
I have a supplementary question: how many more children have to die before the minister takes appropriate action? Mr D.A. TEMPLEMAN

AnswerView source ↗

Every child death in this community is a tragedy. The member opposite has forgotten that there is a range of reasons why children die in this community, and it is sad every time it happens. Several members interjected. The SPEAKER : Order! I have called the member for Nedlands to order three times. I should be calling her to order for the fourth time and the Deputy Leader of the Opposition but I will not. If the members open their mouths again when it is not their turn, I will remove both of them. Mr D.A. TEMPLEMAN : It is sad that there are so many children who are vulnerable and need protection. What this government has to do and what it is doing is make sure that we have every raft of legislation in place and all the resources we need to ensure that we can deal with this problem in the best possible way. However, we need to do this in partnership with the non-government sector and the wider community. We need to have communication across government agencies to ensure that the best practices are in place to support kids in care.
