The Minister for Regional Development is aware of the issues impacting the attraction and retention of General Practitioners in the Pilbara, including the availability of suitable housing. The Pilbara Development Commission is facilitating a meeting of key stakeholders in Port Hedland on 26 November 2008, including representatives from local government, industry, general practitioners and state government, to consider strategies to address the issues. The Minister has asked the Pilbara Development Commission to provide him with a detailed report on the meeting outcomes including any recommendations for his consideration as soon as possible.
