I refer to the minister’s earlier confirmation that the Department of Industry and Resources has ultimate responsibility for pipeline integrity on Varanus Island. (1) Has the minister been advised that the Department of Industry and Resources lacks resources to cover its responsibilities to manage pipeline integrity on Varanus Island? (2) Did the Department of Industry and Resources unsuccessfully attempt to recruit a pipeline engineer to assess proposals as being fit for purpose? (3) What action, if any, was subsequently taken by the Department of Industry and Resources to overcome this lack of expertise? Mr F.M. LOGAN
