Leader of the House representing the Minister for Energy:
I refer to
the Pilbara underground power project in Karratha.
(1) Was conduit suitable for the
National Broadband Network or any other utility laid in the trenches at the
same time as the rollout of the PUPP?
(2) If yes
to (1), what is the fiscal implication for the PUPP?
(3) If yes
to (1) was this NBN part of the project completed?
(4) If no to
(3), why was it not completed?
(5) If the project was not completed, were
there any fiscal implications associated with its non-completion?
(6) If yes to (5) what were they?

On behalf of the Leader of the
House, I thank the honourable member for some notice of this question.
(1) In some
areas, yes.
(2) It was $488 562.78.
(3) No.
(4) The works
were rejected by NBN Co Limited and a fiscal decision was made not to continue
this part of the project as the costs to rectify the works would have exceeded
the payment to be made to Horizon Power from NBN Co.
(5) No; no additional costs
were associated with this part of the works remaining incomplete.
(6) Not applicable.
