(a)-(c) In an aim to improve safety at signalised intersections, on 1 September 2022, the State Government announced that the maximum speed limit through traffic signals across WA would be reduced from 80 km/h to 70 km/h.
This is anticipated to provide a 15% reduction in Killed or Seriously Injury (KSI) crashes at these intersections over five years; making our roads safer and saving lives in alignment with national and state road safety strategies and targets.
With a number of intersections along Marmion Avenue impacted by this policy change, a Speed Zoning review was conducted for the whole of Marmion Avenue, with a view to minimise the number of speed limit changes along the road.
(b)-(c) Speed limits were reduced at 33 sites across WA in 2022, with 32 sites to be completed by the end of this year. These are listed below:
