❓ Hon Ken Travers questions the Minister for Transport's decision to redirect a previous Question on Notice to a Freedom of Information (FOI) request, citing the Premier's promise of openness and the FOI Act's intent to encourage information publication. The Minister defends the FOI process as ensuring proper consultation and accountability.

I refer to question on notice No. 3959 and ask -
(1) Can the Minister explain why he believes this information ‘would be more appropriately sought through a Freedom of Information (FOI) request’?
(2) Is the Minister aware that prior to the last election, the Premier promised that a Liberal Government would be open and accountable?
(3) Is the Minister aware that Part 1, section 3 of the
Freedom of Information Act 1992
states, ‘Nothing in this Act is intended to prevent or discourage the publication of information, or the giving of access to documents’?
(4) Will the Minister now table the information requested?
(5) If no to (4), why not?
