GORGON GAS PROJECT —
CARBON DIOXIDE INJECTION
1110. Hon TIM CLIFFORD to the Minister for Environment:
I
refer to the report and recommendations of the Environmental Protection
Authority published on 25 September 2019 regarding ministerial statement
800 for the Gorgon gas development.
(1) Will the minister accept the
EPA's recommendations?
(2) If no to (1), why not?
(3) What action
will the state government take to ensure that Chevron is responsible for the CO 2 that has not been sequestered since operations began
in July 2016, as per the facility's approval conditions?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1)–(3) As
the EPA has now provided its advice to me, I will consult with the
decision-making authorities as per the
requirements set out in the Environmental Protection Act 1986 and make a final
decision in due course.
