DOUBLEVIEW PRIMARY SCHOOL COMPLEX — OPENING
732. Hon MICHAEL MISCHIN to the Minister for Education and
Training:
I accept the scornful manner in
which the Minister for Education and Training has dealt with these questions on
Doubleview Primary School's interest in an official opening ceremony to
date. I refer to the minister not officially opening Doubleview Primary School,
which has been operating since the start of the year.
(1) Has there been any approach from
the school regarding an opening ceremony?
(2) Has there been any approach to
the school from her office regarding an opening ceremony?
(3) When and in what form did those
approaches occur?
(4) Has any
failure to set a date for an opening been due to the minister not being
available on dates suitable to the school or the school failing to accommodate
a date suitable for the minister?
(5) Does the
minister intend to officially open the school this year; and, if so, what steps
will she take to do that?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. I preface my response by saying that I do not
accept the assertions in the member's opening remarks. I also make the
point that Doubleview Primary School is an excellent school, doing an
outstanding job.
(1)–(5) There
was preliminary discussion between the Department of Education and the school;
however, a date was not set. As I said yesterday, there is currently no plan to
attend an opening event.
