(b) The DPO position was not advertised at any stage as it was not vacant. (c) The Busselton District Office will be consolidated with the Vasse Research Station when the proposed building extensions have been completed at Vasse. (d) The only position which will be lost as a result of the consolidation of the Busselton District Office and Vasse Research Station will be that of one of the two existing Cleaning positions. Currently both Vasse RSU and Busselton DO have their own cleaner, each working 8 hours per week. This is equivalent to 0.20 FTE. It is anticipated that there will be a reduction to only one of the two existing positions, i.e. a potential reduction of 0.20 FTE. (e) The detailed design of the proposed building extension and upgrade at the Vasse Research Station is due to commence in early 2003. The building program has not been set, but the target for completion is October 2003. (f) The land and building in Queen Street, Busselton, which currently houses the Department of Agriculture's office, was issued with a new freehold title by DOLA in July 2001 as Crown Land in preparation for its sale on the open market. The land is free of encumbrances except for a Heritage Memorial on the title. The property will be sold by DOLA through public tender. (g) DOLA is aware that the property has been included in the Heritage Council of Western Australia's State Register of Heritage Places and that a Conservation Plan has been drawn up for the property. (h) The Government has a responsibility to maximise the value of its assets and to utilise the funds generated for improving the delivery of its services. This will be done for the local farming community by utilising the funds to improve the Department's research facilities at Vasse. The market will be used to determine the value of the property and the Shire of Busselton will be encouraged to tender for the property.

(a) For operational reasons the District Protection Officer (DPO) was relocated to the Department of Agriculture's Busselton District Office in 2000, which had surplus accommodation. There was no change to service delivery as the DPO continued to service the Nannup Shire from the Busselton District Office.
