MINISTER FOR PEEL AND THE SOUTH WEST - SMITHS BEACH DEVELOPMENT
Does the minister think it is appropriate to arrange meetings between public servants and private businesses? Mr N.R. MARLBOROUGH

AnswerView source ↗

I have done it for 20 years. Mr C.J. Barnett : We know; that is the problem. Mr N.R. MARLBOROUGH : I would not have thought that any member of this house - Mr R.F. Johnson : Did you always get five grand for that over 20 years? Mr N.R. MARLBOROUGH : That is a different matter. I am not concerned about that at all. I would not have thought that any member of Parliament worth his or her salt, confronted with a group of people with differences and who needed to be brought together to see whether those differences could be resolved, would not have done so. It is worth remembering, of course, that the role I played in this instance occurred when I was a backbencher. This matter has never been before me as a minister. Mr C.J. Barnett : You just said you, as a minister, met with Brian Burke. Mr N.R. MARLBOROUGH : I will get my chance next week. Mr C.J. Barnett : Your chance is now. Mr N.R. MARLBOROUGH : On this issue, this matter has never been before me as a minister.
