APACHE ENERGY GAS PLANT EXPLOSION — PETROLEUM PIPELINES REGULATION
I have a supplementary question. I reiterate the second part of the question I asked; namely, is the minister confident that the arrangements in place have been adequate to ensure the integrity of the facilities over the past two years? Mr F.M. LOGAN

AnswerView source ↗

As a minister, I am quite happy with the work the National Offshore Petroleum Safety Authority is doing. NOPSA is a national body that carries out safety and integrity assessments of equipment in Western Australia and around the country. Its head office is here in Perth, not in the eastern states, because of the expansion of the offshore oil and gas industry in Western Australia. Given that the head office of NOPSA is in Perth, I am happy with its staffing and funding arrangements. [See supplementary information on page 3791.]
