INVOLUNTARY MENTAL HEALTH PATIENTS
Further to answers to questions without notice 7 and 47 provided on 19 February 2008 and 21 February 2008 — (1) From which portfolio is funding provided to — (a) the Health Consumers’ Council; and (b) the Mental Health Law Centre? (2) By what name should I refer to the new board of all hospitals that were formerly under the control of the Metropolitan Health Service Board for which the Minister for Health has assumed the role in an incorporated capacity? (3) Is there any other body not listed in my question 47 that may be responsible for reviewing decisions of the new board in relation to involuntary mental health patients’ treatment? (b) Funding is provided to the Mental Health Law Centre from the Attorney General’s portfolio. (2) With the abolition of the Metropolitan Health Service Board, the Minister for Health assumes the role formerly undertaken by the MHSB under the Hospitals and Health Services Act 1927 in an incorporated capacity as the board of all hospitals formerly under the control of the MHSB. The Minister for Health has continued with the adopted name Metropolitan Health Services for the purpose of exercising day-to-day administrative functions. (3) No. (4) Not applicable.
