Can the Minister explain why no targeted monitoring was undertaken in the 2013–14 period for the Perth Seawater Desalination plant and: (a) in the absence of monitoring, how can the Minister and Cockburn Sound Management Council CMSC be certain that water quality criteria are being met; (b) when was water quality monitoring by the Water Corporation (for the Perth Seawater Desalination Plant) discontinued; and (c) on whose authority was monitoring discontinued?

(a)  The Water Corporation has advised that it undertakes monitoring of the intake water into the Perth Seawater Desalination Plant and the discharge from the plant into Cockburn Sound.
(b)  This water quality monitoring by the Water Corporation is ongoing.
(c)  Not applicable.
