In reference to the trial around the suitability of allowing 36.5 metre trucks to travel down the Roelands Hill section of Coalfields Highway, announced May 6 2015, I ask: (a) what date did the trial commence; (b) when was the trial completed or when will it be completed; (c) what metrics were used to asses the extent to which 36.5 metre trucks can safely use this section of the highway; (d) to what extent would these metrics need to be satisfied for the State Government to consider the use of these kinds of trucks on the highway satisfactorily safe; (e) what were the results of the trial; and (f) are trucks measuring up to 36.5 metres now able to travel down Roelands Hill indefinitely?

As at 11 August 2015:
(a)-(f) Main Roads has engaged ARRB Group to investigate vehicle stability and performance issues and options for route improvements to accommodate 36.5 metre vehicle access on Roelands Hill. It is anticipated ARRB will finalise its investigation by late 2015.
