As an example, for the first time, Consumer Protection will have an information stall with three officers at the Pride Fair in Hyde Park on Sunday 29 September to specifically target gay and lesbian consumers in Perth. As part of the upcoming Seniors Week celebrations, Consumer Protection will participate in Seniors Expos at Kalamunda, Bassendean and Rockingham. Consumer Protection is also working in conjunction with the Government’s Active Ageing Taskforce to develop a comprehensive consumer education programme for seniors. Specific community education programmes are being developed for Aboriginal consumers and Consumer Protection will be represented at the next NAIDOC Week (National Aboriginal and Islanders Day Observance Committee). Consumers from non-English speaking backgrounds are also being targeted. This year, again for the first time, Consumer Protection will publish a comprehensive guide to its services in 10 languages other than English.
