I refer to the cabinet shares scandal. (1) Why has the Premier consistently refused to answer questions from the opposition and the media seeking to know when he first knew that the member for Yokine and his wife had shares in Alinta? (2) Is it because the truth will reveal that the Premier covered up the member for Yokine’s conflict of interest, putting the Premier in a worse position than the member for Yokine, who was forced to resign as minister? Dr G.I. GALLOP

(1)-(2) I take exception to the use of the words “shares scandal”. I have always answered these issues, and I have made it very clear that it is my understanding that the former minister had a managed fund. What was in that managed fund was independently determined. Last Wednesday we sat down with the minister, and it became clear that he had Alinta shares that related to the Dampier to Bunbury natural gas pipeline decision and there were questions that needed to be pursued on that matter.
