ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
AUTHORITY — CARBON TAX
511. Mr W.R. MARMION to the Premier:
Can the Premier confirm that the
Environmental Protection Authority's 100 per cent abatement policy
would cost $30 million to $130 million per year for the Wheatstone project,
threatening billions of dollars in investment, thousands of WA jobs, and our
sovereign risk?

Is the member referring to the
policy that was withdrawn? Is that the policy the member is referring to?
Mr W.R. Marmion : I am
referring to the EPA policy.
Mr M. McGOWAN : The EPA
launched a policy —
Mr W.R. Marmion : You tell us
what you have done with it.
Mr M. McGOWAN : My goodness.
Okay. The EPA released a policy document about two months ago on a Monday or
Tuesday, which was a draft policy. From my recollection, it withdrew it on the
Friday. That policy was withdrawn and the EPA is now consulting broadly with
industry, as I requested it to do. The government is consulting broadly with industry,
and the consultations have been productive.
