PERTH
RAILWAY TUNNEL — MOBILE PHONE COVERAGE
614. Hon KEN TRAVERS to the
parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Transport:
(1) Has there
been any further development in providing mobile phone coverage in the railway
tunnel west of Perth station on the Fremantle line?
(2) If yes to (1), which phone
providers will provide coverage?
(3) If no to (1), why not?
(4) What action is the government
taking to secure mobile phone coverage for the tunnel?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1)–(4) It
remains a business decision for Optus when it will install equipment in the
tunnel. The Public Transport Authority will nevertheless continue discussions
with Optus on this matter.
