Kalgoorlie Health Campus—Radiology billing
330. Ms Libby Mettam to
the Minister for Health:
I refer to
revelations of the minister's January meeting with private radiologists from
Kalgoorlie at which billing irregularities were raised directly with her.
(1) What specific action did the minister
take after that meeting?
(2) When did the minister's director
general undertake her investigation, and what action did she take as a result?
(3) Why did the minister specifically
refer the DG's investigation to the Corruption and Crime Commission?

(1)–(3) I thank the member for the question. First
of all, can I say, in relation to the meeting that occurred in January, a range
of issues were discussed. I would say that, in my characterisation, they were
concerns that were raised by the party—a number of things, going to private
referrals, things going to signage, things going to business viability. Subsequent
to that, I sought advice from the WA Country Health Service who advised me that
it had looked into concerns that had been raised and it undertook to meet again
with that organisation to understand the concerns. The advice I have had
consistently is that the work that had been done, both in the Country Health
Service and in the department, had identified no evidence of irregularity or
wrongdoing.
