828. Hon KATE DOUST to the minister
representing the Minister for Environment:
In relation to the Minister for State Development's referral of
the draft legislation concerning the western trade coast buffer zone to the
Environmental Protection Authority, could the minister advise —
(1) Will the EPA assessment include the entire WTC buffer zone boundary
line; and, if not, why not?
(2) If only a portion of the buffer zone is under review, what is that
portion?
(3) When will the review be completed?

(1) No. The Environmental Protection
Authority's advice under section 16(e) of the Environmental Protection
Act 1986 will focus on health and amenity impacts of dust in the Mandogalup area,
as per the request from the Minister for Environment.
(2) It is the
Mandogalup area.
(3) I understand the EPA is undertaking a rigorous
process of consultation and information gathering and will report back to the
Minister for Environment once its review is complete.
