REMOTE AREA POWER SUPPLY PROGRAM
I refer to the state government’s contribution to the remote area power supply program, which assists with the cost of installation for renewable energy systems to replace unreliable high cost diesel generators. (1) What percentage does the state government, through the Sustainable Energy Development Office, contribute to this scheme? (2) Can the minister confirm that his government has dumped the rebate over the past few months; and, if so, will he please detail the reasons this has occurred? (3) In recognition that the removal of the government’s rebate will add an extra $15 000 to the average applicant’s costs, will the minister reinstate his government’s contribution? Mr F.M. LOGAN

I acknowledge that the member gave some notice of this question but it arrived in my office only about an hour ago. Several members interjected. The SPEAKER : I am sure that every other member who did not ask the question feels entitled to make some sort of comment but they are not allowed to. Mr F.M. LOGAN : It is obviously not possible to provide a response containing the level of detail the member requires in that time. I ask that the member put that question on notice.
