(1) If a translator is required for the purposes of properly conducting a formal interview, the services of professional translators through the Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS) are utilised. This service is provided through the Commonwealth's Department of Immigration and Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs on a chargeable fee-for-service basis. An Officer requiring translation services can contact TIS directly on a 24 hour basis. Payment for TIS services is handled through an invoice authorised by the Officer In Charge. The Police Assistance Centre (PAC) uses the TIS over the phone service when dealing with callers who have limited or no English skills. Payment is handled through an account number for the TIS held by the PAC. (2-4) Not Applicable
