Public Education Endowment Repeal Bill 2025—Removal
191. Mr Liam Staltari to the Minister for Education:
I note that the
government has removed the Public Education Endowment Repeal Bill 2025 from the
orders of the day.
(1) Is this because the government has been caught
out trying to take money from education to fund its pet projects like the
racetrack?
(2) When debate resumes on this bill, does the
minister commit to guaranteeing these funds will be used to fund vital works on
our schools?

All I can say is
that I will consider bills in this place when I have been given due notice of
amendments that are made. The shadow Minister for Education and member for
Carine did not afford me that luxury, giving me the amendments three minutes
before we were due to go to consideration in detail. I know the member is new
to this place, but I can reassure members that when I bring bills to this place—
Ms Libby Mettam: They were introduced last year
as well!
The Speaker: Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party!
Ms Sabine Winton: When I introduce bills to this place
and when I go into consideration in detail on bills, I will do so with full
consideration, particularly of amendments that were offered by the member at
the very last minute.
The Speaker: That concludes question time.
