I thank the member for some notice of this question. (1) The minister is not aware of any complaints being made by transport operators to the Fremantle Port Authority, and the authority is not aware of any concerns being expressed by transport operators in respect of the level of dust emissions occurring when stockfeed pellets are loaded onto sheep transport ships in Fremantle harbour. (2) The Fremantle Port Authority has undertaken an assessment of the environmental aspects relating to the loading of stockfeed pellets to ensure there are no significant impacts on the environment. Responsibility for both the environmental and health aspects rests with the berth operator; that is, the relevant stevedore. The port authority monitors the stevedore’s performance. (3) The Fremantle Port Authority is not aware of any action that is being taken to reduce the level of dust emissions, and has not initiated any action as it has not received any complaints.
