SORRENTO
QUAY — COASTAL INFRASTRUCTURE BUSINESS UNIT —PROPERTY AND LEASE
MANAGEMENT PROCESSES — REVIEW
641. Mr M. McGOWAN to the Minister for
Transport:
I refer to the review into the
Sorrento Quay coastal infrastructure business unit's property and lease
management processes, reportedly established at the minister's request
after a number of concerns from a number of Department of Transport lessees.
(1) Who are the complainants and how
many complaints have been made?
(2) Can the minister confirm that he
instigated the review?
(3) Has the
minister asked the Premier, his office or the Public Sector Commission to
investigate the leaking of confidential commercial information against one of
the complainants; and, if not, why not?

AnswerView source ↗

(1)–(3) Yes,
there have been a number of complaints, and I have requested the department to
initiate an independent review.
Mr
M. McGowan : How many?
Mr
D.C. NALDER : It is in the vicinity of just over 20, I think. I will not
name them because I do not think it is appropriate at this point. I have
requested that review and that it be conducted as quickly as possible.
Obviously, I have seen elements reported in the press. I am disappointed about
that. I think that until some of the concerns have been proven to be correct,
it is better off that I request this information to be expedited and looked at
properly. It is looking at the processes within the marine services area. I want
to be confident that all processes are carried out appropriately and that
everything is done properly and everybody is treated fairly and equitably. I am
waiting for that report to come back. Hopefully, the issues that have been
raised are unfounded and we can move ahead. If there are processes that need to
be upgraded or improved, we will undertake that.
