PERRY LAKES STADIUM, HOUSING PRECINCT REDEVELOPMENT
I refer the minister to the metropolitan region scheme amendment proposed by the Town of Cambridge, which allows for the Perry Lakes stadium area to be redeveloped as a housing precinct. (1) Given that this amendment was approved by the Western Australian Planning Commission in September last year, why has the minister not yet introduced it to Parliament? (2) Is it true that the Labor Government is delaying the progress of this amendment to pressure the Town of Cambridge into funding a new athletics facility on another site, possibly outside the Town of Cambridge? Ms MacTIERNAN

I thank the member for the question. (1)-(2) It is true that issues concerning the Perry Lakes stadium and the future provision of proper athletics facilities within this State need to be resolved. When those issues have been resolved, we will proceed with the amendment.
