(a) Stage 1 of the final Leighton Oceanside Parklands Landscape Master Plan was submitted to, and endorsed by the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) at its meeting of 25 September 2007. The WAPC agreed to defer consideration of the remaining stages of the master plan pending completion of the Metropolitan Region Scheme (MRS) amendments.
(b) The release of the final Landscape Master Plan and the commencement of stage 1 works was approved on 14 November 2007.
(c) MRS Amendment No.1138/41 has been advertised for public comment and hearings have been held by a committee appointed by the WAPC to listen to those who made submissions.
(d) A final decision will be made on this amendment once the process required for making a major region scheme amendment under Part 4 Division 3 of the
Planning and Development Act 2005
has been completed.
This requires the Minister to consider the report and recommendation of the WAPC and to either withdraw the amendment or support it with or without modifications. If the amendment is recommended for approval, the Minister is required to present the amendment to the Governor. If approved by the Governor, the amendment will be tabled in Parliament for a period of 12 sitting days and if not disallowed during that period may proceed to final gazettal.
