I refer to the Broome Aboriginal
short-stay accommodation facility located on the corner of Dickson Drive and
Pembroke Road in Broome, which is currently under construction.
(1) When is construction of this
facility expected to be completed?

On behalf of the minister
representing the Minister for Housing, I thank the honourable member for some
notice of this question.
(1) Practical
completion of the buildings was achieved on 4 July 2018. Extensive landscaping
and drainage works on the 1.8 hectare site are currently being undertaken. It
is anticipated that the site will be completed in December 2018.
(2) The Department
of Communities is working with MercyCare, the appointed service provider that
will manage the facility, to ensure that the Broome Aboriginal short-stay
accommodation can open as soon as practical following completion of works at
the site.
