Hon Giz Watson requests detailed information on recipients and terms of assistance/compensation provided under the 'Protection of Old Growth Forests' Policy Funding Package. The Minister declines to provide the information due to the labour-intensive retrieval process and potential data loss from archiving and destruction under the State Records Act 2000.

(a) the amount of assistance or compensation;
(b) the element of the package that was the source of the assistance or compensation;

(1-2) The Protecting Our Old Growth Forests Policy was introduced in 2001 under the Gallop Labor Government.
There were 11 elements to the Protecting Our Old Growth Forests' Policy Funding Package totalling $161.4m, involving 6 government agencies.
Whilst I acknowledge the identification of the particular elements of the Protecting Our Old Growth Forests Policy Funding Package; Business Exit Assistance, Industry Development Assistance, Workers Assistance, Community Development Assistance, Relocation Compensation and the Furniture Promotion Fund, I need to advise that the retrieval of information as detailed as that requested, is very labour intensive. This is because of the record keeping processes and requirements in the various agencies that administered the program since 2001.
Further, due to the archiving and schedule of destruction of records under the
State Records Act 2000
, the detailed information as requested may not result in a fully comprehensive list of all the details requested by the Minister.
It is therefore not practical to provide the information requested.
