I refer to the installation of two new roundabouts on North Road at the intersections of Barnesby Drive and Beaufort Road in Albany, and ask:
(a) why are these roundabouts being installed;
(b) what is the total cost for each roundabout;
(c) is the City of Albany contributing to the cost of these roundabouts; and
(i) if so, how much are they contributing;
(d) what community consultation was done in the planning process of these roundabouts; and
(i) if consultation was done, by whom was it done; and
(e) what traffic flow modelling was done to ensure that pedestrians will be able to cross North Road between these two roundabouts without difficulty?

advises:
(a) The City of Albany, which is responsible for all the local government roads mentioned, is installing roundabouts in order to improve traffic flow and road safety.
(b) The estimated cost is $349 923 and $456 000 respectively.
(c) Yes for the North Road/Barnesby Drive roundabout only.
(i) One third of the estimated State Black Spot project cost.
(d - e) These questions should be directed to the responsible asset owner for the roads, being the City of Albany. Council is responsible for undertaking any community consultation and traffic modelling on its roads.
