MEMBER FOR
VASSE — ROAD TRAFFIC INCIDENT
110. Mr J.R. QUIGLEY to the
Minister for Police:
I have a supplementary question. Does the Minister for Police
agree with or accept the Commissioner of Police's statement that there
is no basis for investigating the member for Vasse upon a charge of driving
under the influence; does the minister agree with him when he says that there
is no basis upon which he can be investigated?
Point of Order
Mr J.H.D. DAY :
There is a concern that that question is asking for an opinion as opposed to a
statement of fact or information, so I ask you to rule on that, Mr Speaker.
The SPEAKER : It is
up to the minister to decide what she wants to do.

Once again, it is the same words, and I think members can
probably all repeat them with me: I will not be drawn into commenting on an ongoing
police investigation while it is in train.
Mr J.R. Quigley :
He says he's not investigating!
Mrs L.M. HARVEY : I
have said it a number of times. The police will conclude their investigation.
They are the best people to conduct these investigations, and I will wait until
they conclude.
