WATER CORPORATION —
LATE PAYMENTS — INTEREST RATE
250. Dr D.J. HONEY to the Premier:
I have a supplementary question. The
announcement was made on 16 March. The Minister for Energy has stopped all late
payment fees and charges during this crisis; however, I have a water bill dated
7 April, which is three weeks after that date, which still applies the 11.7 per
cent interest rate. I ask the Premier to please check with his Minister for Water and ensure that those charges are in
fact zero per cent, particularly for households experiencing a financial
crisis as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

If the member would like to pass on
those details to me, I will ensure that that can be followed up. It may be that
the bill itself was for a period prior to the government's
announcement. It may have been a cumulative bill because of some unpaid water
payments by that customer. I do not know the details, so I cannot give the
member a specific answer, but if he would like to pass on that information to
me, I will see what the exact circumstances are.
The SPEAKER : That is the end
of question time.
