General practitioner services—Kalbarri
431. Hon Rod Caddies to
the Minister for Regional Development:
I refer to reports
that Kalbarri's only GP clinic will close on 25 June 2026, leaving residents
and visitors facing a four-hour round trip for basic medical care.
(1) Will the minister commit to ensuring
that Kalbarri residents and visitors have access to a local GP service by using
Royalties for Regions funding?
(2) If no to (1), why not?

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1)–(2) The Royalties for Regions budget has been
allocated through the 2026–27 state budget process. The Australian Government
has primary responsibility for funding and regulating the primary healthcare
system, including general practice; however, both the state health minister and
I have written to the federal government.
