(1) Fourteen industrial facilities are licensed by the DEP to discharge waste to the marine environment. These facilities are: Robe River Iron Associates, Cape Lambert Power Station; Woodside Energy Ltd, Onshore Gas Treatment Plant; Apache Energy Limited, Airlie Island Project; Hamersley Iron, Parker Point Power Station; M G Kailis at Dongara and Exmouth; Nor West Seafoods, Carnarvon; Wesfarmers CSBP, Kwinana; BP Refinery, Kwinana; Tiwest, Kwinana; Millenium Performance Chemicals, Kwinana; Millenium Inorganic Chemicals, Kemerton and Australind, and Princess Royal Seafoods, Albany. (2) Seven Government agency facilities are licensed by the DEP to discharge waste to the marine environment. These facilities are: Water Corporation’s Beenyup WWTP, Subiaco WWTP, Woodman Point WWTP, Point Peron WWTP and Bunbury WWTP; and Western Power’s Kwinana Power Station and Collie Power Station. (3) The DEP is aware of around 700 sites in WA, which are, or have been contaminated. However, due to the current voluntary nature of reporting of sites to the DEP, this list is not completed. Once the Contaminated Sites legislation is enacted, a full database of all known contaminated sites will be publicly available. I suggest that, in the interests of receiving full and accurate up-to-date information that the Honorable Member postpones his request until the contaminated sites database is operational. (4) Please refer to part (3)
