Minister for Mines and Petroleum:
I ask this question on behalf of Hon
Tjorn Sibma, who regrettably has to be absent from the chamber on urgent
parliamentary business.
Will the mines safety and inspection
levy apply to the new lithium refinery currently under construction in the
Kwinana industrial area?

The following information has been provided to me by the Minister for Mines and
Petroleum.
The Mines Safety and Inspection Levy
Regulations 2010 apply to any facility classed as a mining operation under the
Mines Safety and Inspection Act 1994. The classification of this project is
currently under discussion with project proponents.
