I thank the Leader of the
Opposition for some notice of the question.
(1)–(2) The
Mayor of the City of Joondalup wrote to the minister in 2021 requesting a review
of speed zones for coastal roads between
Burns Beach and Marmion. The minister advised that Main Roads Western Australia was at that time undertaking such a review.
Following the finalisation of the
review, Main Roads met with the City of Joondalup in January 2022 to discuss
the findings. It was jointly agreed that reducing the speed limits of coastal
roads in Burns Beach and Marmion would require local area traffic management
areas to enable changing driver behaviour. Main Roads wrote to the City of
Joondalup in February 2022 to confirm this.
